Syrina was born on Farday 20 Zarantyr 971YK which happened to be the first coterminous day of Kythri, the Churning Chaos. The Bitter Sea is always chaotic during winter, but on this day that chaos was amplified. Three hurricanes formed and collided just five miles off the coast of Stormhome.
The Colavare, her sails tattered and useless, tossed on the enormous swells of the Bitter Sea. Captain Derlain prayed. He had been sailing for nearly twenty years at this point, but never were his skills tested by such adversity. Three storms bearing down on him, and his wife was below deck giving birth to his first child.
The sea threw The Colavare around for hours, but never managed to capsize her. The three eyes met above The Colavare, and sunlight shone across her deck. Derlain stared into the clear blue sky, tears streaming down his face, and at that moment the crewman who was watching over the birth of his child tapped him on the shoulder, and placed into his arms a beautiful baby girl.
He smiled. The storms broke, fading into nothingness in moments.
“Kythri!” Derlain exclaimed shaking his head.
Sarday 21 Eyre 995YK, more than two decades after Syrina’s birth, Kythri had yet again become coterminous. Syrina strolled across the deck of Kallianna. They had been followed by Lhazaar pirates all night, and they will close within the hour. The captain had become ill in the wee hours of the morning, five crewmen fell overboard in the night, one of them being the first mate, and all of the spare rope on board was found rotten and unusable. A stray bolt of lightning tore through the sails eliminating any manual control of the Wind Galleon, and no one else on board could communicate with the elemental bound into Kallianna’s hull.
The pirates closed. Syrina didn’t know what to do. The crew was understaffed and panicked. For a lot of them this was their first trip. Syrina had to come up with something. The pirates cannot have this ship. They will not!
A large crack echoed across the sea from the boarding plank laid onto Kallianna’s deck. The sea prince himself boarded first, a smile splitting his face from ear to ear. “Ah Lyrandar does have some amazing toys!”
Syrina snapped. She was not going to allow such a pompous son of a goat to pilot Kallianna. She ran to the helm, and placed her hand on the Khyber shard the elemental was bound into, and an enormous energy took over her. The winds grew to a tempest and Syrina was its eye. She screamed and an gust of wind roared across the deck and blew the pirate prince off the boarding deck and into the frigid waters of the Lhazzar sea.
The elemental responded, and Kallianna took off! The pirates would not have her. Not this day!
Syrina, Mark of Storm prominent on the left side of her neck, sailed safely back to Stormhome, all the while watching pirate ship after pirate ship sink unexpectedly as she past.
“Kythri!” she exclaimed as she pulled into port.
